Sales Manager

As our Sales Manager of retail plants you will have the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Increase annual sales, develop new business, expand markets and manage existing accounts for long term growth and effective flow through of inventory
  • Lead significant growth of revenue through the core business model and strategic opportunities
  • Improve strategic key account management
  • Create and execute strategic and tactical sales plans that include sales forecasting, activities, key performance goals and metrics, monitoring and tracking results to achieve quotas and corporate goals.
  • Develop and manage metrics, systems and processes that capture, analyze, report and forecast sales including variances as well as key performance metrics and tools to manage performance in order to guide the sales department, improve the entire sales process and to create an effective and efficient sales department
  • Analyze and stay ahead of the market including customer needs, products and pricing as well as the activities and products of competitors
  • Collaborate with other internal functional areas including operations and accounting to increase sales, improve customer service and product delivery.
  • Sales administrative responsibilities include accurate reports and forecasts and managing budgets.
  • Manage and mentor sales staff and produce a plan for their training and development to achieve company goals.
  • Lend expertise and assist sales representatives to maintain relationships, develop new business, negotiate and close new business.
  • Manage all financial and accounting aspects of the sales department including P&L and budgets
  • Negotiate and resolve contract issues.
  • Lead by example with best practices, accountability, integrity, ethics, performance, growth and profitability.

Education and/or Experience:?
  • Minimum of 10 years? experience in sales and sales leadership in the horticultural or landscape industry or equivalent hands-on experience and knowledge.
  • A proven successful track record in sales that includes increased customer base, sales, gross and net profits and ability to substantially increase revenue and profitability
  • Improving the sales process to create an efficient and effective sales department
  • Creating and implementing strategic and tactical sales plans
  • Proven track record in managing a sales department that includes meeting or exceeding established goals and quotas particularly increasing annual revenue and average margins.
  • Ability to develop and lead a sales department and improve through performance metrics and recognition
  • Exceptional customer management skills and developing customer loyalty.
  • Ability to strengthen interdepartmental communication and expectations
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and time management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of P & L statements, budgets, bids and projections.
