(AP) ? Newly released Pentagon documents show that Air Force officers debated briefly about burial at sea before concluding that 1,321 unidentifiable fragments of remains from the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon should be treated as medical waste and incinerated.

A string of emails running from Aug. 5-7, 2002, reveal that an unidentified Air Force colonel suggested scattering the already cremated remains at sea. A second official ? a civilian and ? said it may be appropriate to also have witnesses and a chaplain present.

Their arguments that the 9/11 remains weren't just normal waste were rejected by others who concluded the material was medical waste and should not be treated like human remains.

The emails were among nearly 2,000 pages of documents released by the Pentagon on Friday detailing operations at the mortuary at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, investigations into problems and mishandling of war dead and other remains there and records about the disposal of body fragments.

The disclosure came hours after senior Pentagon officials met with the families of some of the victims of the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon to provide greater details about the incineration and dumping of small amounts of residual remains ? potentially of their loved ones ? in a landfill.

Last month's disclosure that incinerated 9/11 remains were sent to a landfill triggered outrage and demands for additional information about the practice, which was ended in June 2008. Since then the Air Force has put remnants in urns and disposed of them at sea from Navy or Coast Guard ships.

The emails, however, back up claims that there was a debate in the months after 9/11 over how best to treat small body fragments from the Pentagon rubble that could not be individually identified and were often mixed with other material such as dirt and concrete.

In the string of emails titled "Group F bio waste," one colonel said, "I do like the idea of spreading the ashes at sea in that it is a neutral arena." And the colonel asks for written direction to set up the sea burial.

The response, from another unidentified official, said that Personnel Command at the military's Mortuary Affairs said that the contract says that no medical waste can be returned to the military services. And that "powder and ashes from the incineration of the material and the containers that were used for the burning is to be disposed of as normal waste."

The email continued, "We should not be attempting to spread the residue as sea, as it could possible (sic) send a message to the next of kin that we are disposing human remains and that is not the case."

And the final conclusion was to immediately dispose of all the material.

A colonel acknowledged the decision, adding only that "my point, as you are aware of, is that Group F is not your normal set of medical waste."

The response, from a civilian, said "totally agree" and said the decision was coordinated with higher headquarters' officials. The civilian added, "Understand Group F was special."

The final email suggested that some may have believed this was a decision that might be challenged later, as it warned other recipients to keep the email record "as proof of our coordination."

Officials and documents made public Friday laid out some of the different categories of remains from the 9-11 attack on the Pentagon. The first group included intact victims and the second was remains that were not intact but the team was able to identify.

"Group C" was eventually positively identified as the human remains of 25 victims, which were later cremated and buried at Arlington Cemetery. Group D was mixed human remains that were not individually identified but found to not be associated with any of the terrorists, and they were also targeted for release to Arlington.

Group E was remains of the terrorists, which were sent to the FBI. And Group F was 1,321 portions tagged by the FBI that were "non-associable" fragments that could not be further identified and were mixed with fragments of non-biological material.

At a news conference Friday, Jo Ann Rooney, the acting defense undersecretary for personnel and readiness, said that some of the Group F remains included biological material that may not have been human and it could not be determined if there were terrorist remains mixed in. It could, she said, have been "something from someone's lunch."

The practice at the time, in a situation like that, she said, would be to treat the latter group of remains as medical waste.

Rooney met with about 35 family members for about 2 1/2 hours Friday morning and said later, "The victims deserve the utmost care, dignity and respect with regard to their treatment. That's what they and their families received."

And she said that the 2002 debate about the disposal of the 9/11 remains spread across the department into senior leaders.

"Truly, again, the idea was we wanted to do the best we could for dignity and care for the remains," she said.

The first revelations of the disposal came last month when the head of an independent panel, retired Gen. John Abizaid, released a report that assessed management problems at the at the Air Force mortuary at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

His work was triggered by disclosures last fall about the mishandling of remains of American war dead at Dover in 2010.

According to the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, an independent federal investigative agency, the Air Force has begun disciplinary procedures against former Dover mortuary commander Col. Robert Edmondson and another former supervisor, Trevor Dean, in connection with allegations they retaliated against workers who blew the whistle on the mishandling of human remains there.

Brig. Gen. Eden Murrie, the director of Air Force services, said Friday that the disciplinary procedures would be completed in mid- to late-April. Those actions are in addition to earlier censures taken against those two and one other employee in the fall for mismanagement at Dover.

Gen. Norton Schwartz, the Air Force chief of staff, told reporters late last month that the actions taken by the Dover mortuary were based on written guidance issued in March 2002 by David Chu, who was the Pentagon personnel chief under Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld.

Juice Fasting: The Good, the Bad, and the Unexpected | Peaceful ...

My juice fast has been over for quite some time now, at least two months.? When I was 3 days in, I started writing a beautiful blog post on the experience, and it got lost in the electronic universe.? I was pretty discouraged by the loss of my blog post.? So discouraged, in fact, that it has taken me this long to come to terms with it and realize that I have to suck it up and start over.? Especially when more and more people started asking me about juice fasting and juicing, I knew I had to stop grieving over the loss of the unfinished blog post and just start anew!? So here I am, two months after my juice cleanse, and boy do I have some lessons to share with you!? I?ll share the good, the bad, and the unexpected parts of my juice cleanse.? No holding back, full on disclosure, let?s do this!

FIRST THINGS FIRST- DETAILS OF MY FAST

My juice fast lasted one week.? The first three days were strictly juice (no other food or drinks), and the last four days were a combination of juice and raw foods (and olive oil, which I came to find out at the end of the cleanse is not a raw food, oops!).? There are many different ways to do a juice cleanse.? The most important thing is that you do what is best for your health.? Some people do 30, 60, or 90 days cleanses, some do 3-4 days, and some do different combinations of juice and raw foods.? You should always consult a medical professional before beginning a juice fast, and most importantly, you should listen to your body and make adjustments throughout the cleanse as necessary for your body.

Here are a few pictures of produce I bought to juice?

THE GOOD

The benefits of my juice cleanse could be felt almost immediately in the first day.? My energy level went sky high, and by day 2 I realized I didn?t need coffee to get my day started.? And not only did I not need the coffee to wake me up and keep me going, but I didn?t get a headache from NOT drinking it!? This was a huge breakthrough for me. ?I have done coffee detoxes before, and let me tell you, I was not a fun person to be around when I did!? The headache I would get from not drinking coffee was unbearable.? I don?t know for sure what a migraine feels like, but my coffee detox headache was probably pretty close.? I wouldn?t even want to get out of bed until the headache had subsided.? And during a detox, my headache could last anywhere from 3-7 days.? That?s a whole week of miserable pain that won?t go away.? But while juicing, I never once got a headache from not drinking coffee.? Two months later, I can still skip my morning coffee if I choose, and as long as I have juice, I am good to go.

Aside from the boost in energy and not getting caffeine detox headaches, I also noticed that juicing put me in a better mood.? In the moment, it?s funny because it just feels like smells are sweeter, the sky is brighter, and everything makes me smile.? But logically, it actually makes sense.? The body is getting tons of micronutrients that are hard to get in the same volume without juicing. ?Not to mention the fact that some of the foods I was juicing (i.e. jalapenos and other hot chilies) help to release endorphins in the body. ?So, I just felt great!

THE BAD

Okay, so here I am going on and on about how great juicing is and how good it makes you feel, but I will be the first to admit that there were parts that were not so fun.? My biggest problem during my cleanse was that I was not juicing enough.? I was probably eating about 45-55 ounces of juice a day, and I should have been eating 60-80 ounces!? So by day three, I had lost some energy and wasn?t really feeling too good.? This was a huge mistake on my part, and one that could have easily been avoided by consulting more resources on juicing before beginning my cleanse.? But it was a mistake I learned from, and now I can hopefully help other people from making that same mistake.? But this alludes to another downside of juicing.? JUICING IS EXPENSIVE. ?I?ve read blogs and watched movies that say you actually save money by juicing because you?re not spending on other food, bla bla bla.? I now believe that advice may be coming from people who eat out all the time.? If you know me, you know I love to cook.? And furthermore, you know I love to cook on a budget!? I am the queen of reusing obscure leftovers to make an awesome second meal.? And we eat good in our house, but we eat cheap.

At our first trip to the Farmer?s Market, Austin and I spent about $70 on TONS of fruits and veggies and leafy greens.? And if you?ve been to the Nashville Farmer?s Market, you know that $70 goes far, and buys a LOT of food.? And indeed, it did. ?Just look at how full our refrigerator was after the first trip to the market?

But juicing takes a lot of produce to make just 15-20 ounces of juice.? So by day three, we were shopping again.? I?m not sure what our weekly total was, but it was well over $100, and it was way more than we would spend grocery shopping for the week.? So if you plan to juice, and especially if you plan to do a 30, 60, or 90 day cleanse, be prepared to plan a budget for it!

Finally, and keep in mind I said this blog would be full disclosure, one other downside to my juice cleanse was the bowel movements? or lack thereof!? There, I said it.? Let?s be grown up and talk about it.? Dr. Oz made it cool to talk about bowel movements, so I?m a little more open to it, ha!? I have heard of other people doing juice cleanses and they report having an awesome system flush.? Some people even warn that you should plan a juice fast around a time when you know you can be at home or have quick access to a bathroom if necessary.? So I did.? And I waited.? And then I waited some more.? I was lucky if I had one BM a day in the first three days, and for me, that is torture.? I have a healthy (and predictable) system, so not having my usual regularity drove me crazy.

There are two things that I believe may have contributed to the way my body reacted to the juice cleanse.? First of all, the flushing of the system is usually so intense because the body is ridding itself of lots of harmful toxins?toxins that come from consuming things like meat, dairy, and other animal products? toxins that come from things like alcohol and tobacco, medications and chemicals found in highly processed foods?and these are things that had long ago been flushed from my system (minus the occasional alcoholic beverage).? I am vegan, so my body has gotten rid of most of the animal products that once occupied it (although I have heard that chicken can stay in the system as long as red meat?up to 7 years?so my body may still have a little bit to get rid of, but not as much as a carnivore).? I quit smoking more than two years ago, so those harmful chemicals shouldn?t be a problem anymore.? And I have greatly reduced the number of processed foods I consume, so the dangerous chemicals and hormones, and artificial food colorings just aren?t a part of my regular diet anymore.? So for all of these reasons, I think my body just had less to shed than what some other people might have to cleanse.

The other reason I think my BMs were so few and far between was because there isn?t a whole lot of fiber consumption in a strictly-juice diet.? The fiber in all these great fruits and veggies I was eating is found in the skin of the food, and of course when juicing, you don?t consume the skins.? So if this would be a concern for you, you could always drink the juice and then pull a few skins of high-fiber foods out of your juicer?s ?compost bin? and eat those.? By the time I was eating raw foods along with the juice, my system became more regular again, so consuming some high-fiber skins along with your juice or doing a raw diet in combination with your juice cleanse may be the answer to keeping you regular.? And don?t get me wrong, I was not bloated or uncomfortable during the strictly-juice part of the cleanse.? So if not having as many BMs as you usually do doesn?t bother you, then don?t even worry about it!

THE UNEXPECTED

Okay, get ready for it, because this is my favorite part.? In my 7-day juice cleanse, I lost 7 pounds!!? And two months later, I have still kept those 7 pounds off.? This weight loss was completely unexpected for me because I have weighed the same for the last 5+ years.? No matter what I eat or how regularly I exercise, NOTHING has changed my weight in the last five years.? I change what I eat and I change my exercise routine, and I see great results, don?t get me wrong. ?I see more toned muscles. ?I notice that I have greater endurance, a stronger back, and more flexibility.? But never, NEVER, have I lost any weight during this time.? So when I did the juice cleanse, it wasn?t a goal of mine to lose weight, and I wasn?t expecting or even hoping to do so. ?In fact, it wasn?t until I had a doctor?s appointment that I even noticed I had lost any weight, and then it was confirmed when I went back to the gym to make sure it wasn?t just a difference in scales.? At the doctor?s office, I stepped on the scale and thought to myself, ?I could just tell the nurse to write down 140, because I am always 140.?? And then she read the weight out loud, ?Okay, 133.?? I looked down in disbelief? ?133?!?!? I exclaimed.? ?Yes, 133, is that good or bad?? she asked.? I said it wasn?t good or bad, but just an unexpected weight loss.? But now that I?ve had some time to get used to it and think about it, it is good.? It is great! ?Whatever that 7 pounds was, it wasn?t anything healthy and it surely wasn?t anything my body needed.? And after a successful juice cleanse, it is gone.? And I?ve maintained the weight loss since my cleanse ended by sticking to a continued healthy diet consisting of juice and raw foods and the occasional cooked treat.

SUMMARY

So I think all in all, I can call my first juice cleanse a success!? Most importantly, I learned things for future cleanses.? I learned that I will need to consume more juice when I am on the juice-only part of the cleanse.? I learned that I will either need to consume more fiber during the juice-only part, or deal with the fact that I?m not going to have as many BMs as I usually do.? I learned that I will need to save up some money to do another cleanse, especially if I am going to do it right and consume about 60-80 ounces of juice a day.

I hope that by sharing my experience you have learned something about juice fasting and that you can make the right decision for yourself if you want to try it or not. ?And as always, if you have any questions about my experience, please don?t hesitate to ask me.? I could talk about this stuff all day, ha!

Lin-surgery! Knicks guard done for regular season

(AP) ? Say so long to Linsanity.

Jeremy Lin will miss the rest of the regular season because he needs knee surgery that will sideline him six weeks and could leave the Knicks without their star point guard in the playoffs ? if they make it that far.

Lin had an MRI exam this week that revealed a small, chronic meniscus tear and he has elected to have surgery next week in New York.

With the regular season ending April 26, the biggest story in basketball this season is done unless the Knicks make a deep postseason run.

Speaking slowly during a pregame press conference, Lin was unable to hide his disappointment with the decision that was reached earlier Saturday after a painful workout.

"It (stinks) not being able to be out there with the team," he said.

Upcoming: Lin-surgery.

He was barely holding on to a place in the NBA back in February. Now, after the back-to-back Sports Illustrated covers and popularity around the world, and now it's over.

"If this was done very early in the year, obviously ... I don't know where my career would be. I could be, would be definitely without a job and probably fighting for a summer league spot," Lin said. "But having said that, this happening now hurts just as much, because all the players, we really put our heart and souls into the team and into season, and to not be there when it really matters most is hard."

The Knicks will continue to turn to Baron Davis in place of Lin, the undrafted Harvard alum who became the starter in February and turned in a series of brilliant performances, kicking off a phenomenon that was called Linsanity.

Lin is averaging 14.1 points and 6.1 assists, but the numbers only tell a small part of the story.

The Knicks were under .500 and looking like a mess when Lin was given a chance to play extended minutes at point guard for then-coach Mike D'Antoni on Feb. 4 against New Jersey.

Lin, the first American-born player of Taiwanese or Chinese descent to play in the NBA, scored 25 points with seven assists in that New York victory, was inserted into the starting lineup two days later against Utah, and took the Knicks on a seven-game winning streak that gained world-wide attention.

The 23-year-old Lin left the Knicks' easy victory over Detroit last Saturday after feeling discomfort, saying afterward he could have returned for the fourth quarter if the game had been close. He took part in shootaround before their game Monday and at first believed he could deal with the pain.

Though the swelling went down, the pain never did. He said he got three or four opinions that all said the same thing, and after testing it again Friday and Saturday, he decided to have the surgery.

"I can't really do much. Can't really cut or jump, so it's pretty clear that I won't be able to help the team unless I get this fixed right now," Lin said before the Knicks played Cleveland. "It's disappointing for me, it's hard to watch the games and I think I'd want to be out there obviously more than anything right now. But hopefully, it's a six-week rehab process but I tend to heal fast, so hopefully I can come back as soon as possible and still contribute this season hopefully."

It's the second serious injury loss of the week for the Knicks, who are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference. Amare Stoudemire is out two to four weeks with a back injury, leaving the Knicks without their second- and third-leading scorers for perhaps the remainder of the regular season.

Davis still isn't 100 percent after a herniated disk in his back kept him out of action until February. The Knicks also have Mike Bibby and Toney Douglas, plus rookie Iman Shumpert as point guard options, but none as good as Lin.

"We've got to go on, but he's a big piece of our puzzle and what we were doing as of late before he actually went out," interim coach Mike Woodson said. "All's not bad. Again, we've got three veteran point guards sitting over there and the rookie we could play some at the point. We're just going to have to make do until he's able to get back into uniform. But it is a big blow."

Lin flourished in D'Antoni's offense, and there was immediate speculation he would struggle ? or even lose his starting spot ? when Woodson replaced him on March 14. Instead, Lin kept on rolling, leading the Knicks to six wins in seven games before he was hurt.

Woodson said he's known of players that have played through meniscus tears, but that only Lin knows his body. Lin knew he would need surgery eventually, but hoped to delay it until after the season.

"He's elected to have the surgery and we've got to respect that, because only he knows the pain that he's feeling. And there is a problem, so it's got to be fixed," Woodson said.

The Knicks had already tried three point guards when they finally turned to Lin, who had been cut by Golden State and Houston before signing with the Knicks. D'Antoni immediately elevated him to the starting lineup after his performance against the Nets, and Lin responded with the greatest beginning stretch ever for a starter.

He was the first player with at least 20 points and seven assists in each of his first five starts since the Elias Sports Bureau began charting starts in 1970. He had a 3-pointer to win a game in Toronto, scored 38 points to outplay Kobe Bryant in a national TV victory over the Lakers, then had 28 points and 14 assists in another nationally televised victory over the NBA champion Dallas Mavericks.

All along, the frenzy around him increased. Commissioner David Stern said he had never seen so much interest created by one player in such a short period of time. Knicks games were picked up by TV stations in basketball-crazed Asia, and Lin actually pleaded for privacy for his family in Taiwan.

Lin will be a free agent after the season and said he hopes to return to New York, but otherwise wasn't thinking that far in the future.

"I'm not even worried about that right now," he said. "It's not like a career-ending thing or it's not something that will bother me. Once it's fixed, it's fixed, it's the most simple surgery you can have and so I'm more concerned about the season."

Picking an experienced and reliable company to deal with your property management is essential for business and order. Finding the right company is essential for your needs.

What Do Property Managers Do?

To start off, I don?t own a real estate property management company, nor am I trying to send business to any real estate property management company. A possible solution is to find a competent real estate property management company.Ideally, a company that specializes in the type of property you currently own, or are looking to purchase? Who will be responsible for property maintenance? When searching for a real estate property management company, ask for referrals from current clients who use their maintenance service? Create a name for your real estate property management company, and then file with your Local County Clerk?s office. Now I?m not trying to scare you out of having your very own real estate property management company? Plumbing will be your biggest repair expense with rental properties. If you plan on buying more then two, you probably will want to hire a professional real estate property management company.

Fighting champ was recruiter for Roman army

Millennia before modern-day military recruiters talked up potential soldiers in shopping malls or put up posters, one Roman city took a rather different approach to recruiting soldiers for the emperor's army.

A newly translated inscription, dating back about 1,800 years, reveals that Oinoanda, a Roman city in southwest Turkey, turned to a mixed martial art champion to recruit for the Roman army and bring the new soldiers to a city named Hierapolis, located hundreds of miles to the east, in Syria.

His name was Lucius Septimius Flavianus Flavillianus and he was a champion at wrestling and pankration, the latter a bloody, and at times lethal, mixed martial art where contestants would try to pound each other unconscious or into submission.

Flavillianus proved to be so successful as a military recruiter that it was decreed that he be made a "cult figure in the band of heroes" after he died, with each tribe of the city erecting statues in his honor. The inscription, written in Greek, was engraved on the base of a statue found in Oinoanda's agora (a central public space) and would have been erected by the people of the city. Discovered by a team in 2002, it wasn't until now that researchers translated and published it.

"This is a very unusual piece of evidence that has come to light," said Nicholas Milner, a researcher with the British Institute at Ankara, who published the translation in the most recent edition of the journal Anatolian Studies. [Photos of Inscription & Roman Combat Sports]

Milner explained that in the Roman Empire, this sort of "heroization" is very rare.

Champion athlete
The inscription hails Flavillianus as being a "champion athlete," and, from other inscriptions found at Oinoanda, researchers know that the two sports he won championships in were wrestling and pankration.

Pankration was such a bloody sport that it had only two known rules: no eye-gouging and no biting. Aside from these restrictions, anything was fair game. Philostratos, an ancient writer who lived around the same time as Flavillianus, wrote that pankration competitors are skillful in different types of strangulation. "They bend ankles and twist arms and throw punches and jump on their opponents," (Translation from the book "Arete: Greek sports from ancient sources," Stephen Gaylord Miller, 2004). [Roman Gladiator's Tombstone Reveals Fatal Foul]

By the time he took up duties recruiting soldiers, Flavillianus would have been a mature man who had fought and prevailed in many of these contests. His father even boasted about his son's success in an inscription on his own mausoleum writing that Flavillianus, "who having trained at pankration won crowns for victories in sacred games."

This experience as a champion fighter, and the fame that came with it, would have helped Flavillianus in his task. "He would have been able to judge suitable recruits, and he probably knew lots of suitable recruits," said Milner.? Also "being a top athlete was a kind of celebrity status in Roman times," he said. "A celebrity would have a greater ability to drum up support and large numbers of volunteers than somebody who was not a celebrity." It is possible, however, that some of the soldiers Flavillianus recruited were conscripted against their will.

Man of mystery
Flavillianus would have personally escorted his recruits to Hierapolis, but beyond that, Milner said, scholars don't know if the champion joined the Roman army himself.

Milner isn't sure why Flavillianus became an army recruiter, though he suggests he was likely motivated by honor. If he hadn?t done the job it would have fallen to the community at large (especially those who were wealthy) to drum up recruits.

"This was a society that was driven by the competition for honor, particularly at the top of the city," Milner explained. "They were competing to outshine one another in the eyes of their local community and hopefully also in the eyes of the Roman authorities."

Modern-day parallels
Ironically, many of the issues mentioned in the inscription are those that confront us today. Over the last decade, mixed martial arts has become a popular sport in western culture, albeit with many more rules. Military recruitment methods are also a hot topic today. Even the enemy the ancient Roman recruits would potentially have been fighting, the Persians, based in modern-day Iran, are today seen by some as a potential adversary for the United States and other nations.

These parallels between the ancient world and modern times are not lost on Milner. He explained that Roman civilization, with the external threats they faced, tended to be fairly militarized. The idea of using a celebrity athlete as a "rallying point" for recruitment is an idea that could well be used today.

"If we were faced with a similar situation we might well find ourselves responding in rather similar ways," Milner said. "In some ways, the people of the ancient world were not so different from us and we can see ourselves in them."

Clay Aiken Says Rihanna Has 'Pitch Problems'

Former 'American Idol' takes shots at Rihanna and admits to plastic surgery.

Clay Aiken knows about competition. The TV veteran was not only a runner-up on the second season of "American Idol," but he's also hanging tough on the 12th season of "Celebrity Apprentice."

But during an appearance on Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live," he told host Andy Cohen that there's one person he's not worried about competing with: Rihanna.

The dis came when Aiken was on the hot seat in the "plead the fifth" segment, when asked which current pop singers wouldn't make it past the first round on "Idol," Aiken said, "Oh God, there is too many. Too many ... Current pop singer? I've stopped listening to them because they can't sing."

Then he thought about it for a second and said, "Rihanna has some pitch problems for sure. She does ... Now I'm gonna get in trouble." The openly gay singer also had a unique answer to the "marry, kill, screw" question, when asked who he would choose between former tormentor and ex-"Idol" judge Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest. "Oh gosh, that's awful, I wouldn't want to kill any of them," he said. "I'm gonna kill Simon, because it's the obvious choice ... Of the two that are left I would probably going to screw Ryan and marry Randy. That's the obvious choice, right?"

As if he hadn't revealed enough, when asked if, as rumored, he'd ever had any plastic surgery, Aiken at first demurred, then admitted, "I had surgery on my jaw for a TMJ thing and I had them suck the fat out of my chin while they were in there. I was like, 'you know what, while I'm already down, go ahead and take the vacuum in there and suck the fat out of my chin.'"

People spend money on real estate for any number of reasons. There are those who assume that property is a lot more stable than gold being an investment, with regards to price and security. They contend that just as real property such as land is immovable, it can?t be stolen. Regardless of whether infrastructure and improvements into it maybe a house depreciate with time, the land itself isn?t going to, but consistently appreciates, under normal conditions. Gold-oriented investors, on the other hand, defend their yellow metal to get more stable becasue it is value consistently appreciates and accepted worldwide. Further, you can use them as paper currency benchmarks and to protect borrowing, secured as gold reserves in coins and/or bullions, thus many are interested in gold investment. It?s easy to say this today ? but stocks in the last A decade are actually a hopeless investment. Should you put your money in stocks in 2002, you should definitely have less money today. It?s played havoc with everybody?s retirement. If it weren?t for the way stocks have acted within the last decade, utilize hear constantly about how exactly people have were required to placed their retirement off by 10 or 15 years. You?d believe that individuals who aim to spread their risks by putting some of their faith in actual estate investing could well be saved.

But that hasn?t happened we all know. Property prices have plummeted within the last a few years,. Well, perhaps it would not be fair to talk about that all real estate property listing has tanked. Put your money in US real estate investment trusts, therefore you might find that you make 3 times all the off your investment than you should in case you bought S&P 500 stocks. Not really that this really is any great secret. Investors happen to be falling over themselves to purchase this kind of real estate. While using economy tentatively start to check out somewhat, market starts to brighten up. Naturally, you are unable to just jump in headfirst without really understanding what?s going on. For instance, when Greece?s economy went in to a tailspin, American REIT?s fell 5%. And after that, together with the Fed increasing mortgage rates, real estate investment loans could become unaffordable to several. That is the worrying thing.

Having said that, besides these risks around, REITs have over a period of time, were outperform anything else ? regardless of what way the eye rates go. The advantage of paying for real estate investment is always that occurs match inflation. When inflation rises, rents rise too. They usually rise for a faster clip than inflation.

Thai billionaire releases second book in Vietnam

Thai billionaire Vikrom Kromadit has just unveiled his second book, titled ?Nghiet Nga va Thanh Cong? (Be A Better Man), in Vietnamese at a press conference held in Ho Chi Minh City on Tuesday.

Unlike his first book, ?Tay Khong Gay Dung Co Do? (Building A Career by Bare Hands), which was earlier released in Vietnam and told of Kromadit?s desire to be a rich man, ?Be A Better Man?, which is co-published by First News and Tre Publishing House, is the story of the billionaire?s normal life with its many ups and downs.

?Be A Better Man? was published in Thailand in 2004 and has sold 300,000 copies. A Thai TV series adapted from the book is also being purchased to be broadcast in Vietnam.

In 2008, Vikrom was voted as one of Thailand?s 40 richest people by Forbes magazine.

He has published 12 books in Thailand, and they are sold for just US$1 in the hope of sharing his experiences with younger generations.

Last week, he also attended HCMC?s 7th biennial book festival, which ended on March 25.

How Do You Dispose of Old Paint? New How-to Video from Dunn ...

LOS ANGELES, March 29, 2012 ? Springtime means home improvement projects ? and often includes painting. But what should be done with unwanted leftover paint? Just in time for Earth Month, Dunn-Edwards Paints has a short video, How to Properly Dispose of Paint, that every do-it-yourselfer should view.

Host of the video, professional painter Cole Schaefer, points out that ?you cannot dump it? and it is illegal to do so. You can?t put it on or into the ground, or in any body of water or storm drain. There are even regulations about how and where to rinse off brushes and rollers coated with paint. For example, it?s okay to rinse brushes in the sink, since that water ends up in a municipal water treatment plant. But you can?t hose them off in the gutter, where the paint would run into a storm drain, which leads straight into rivers, streams and oceans.

Empty or nearly empty cans of water-based paint, if you let them dry out completely, can be put into your household trash ? but don?t do this with cans that contain oil-based paint or any combustible or flammable liquid. Those need to be taken to a household waste recycling event or facility.? Search online to find one in your neighborhood.

Want to make sure you?re buying the right amount of paint for your needs and reduce the leftover? Another new video, How Much Paint to Buy, is helpful in determining the quantity of paint required for any project. If you do buy too much, consider donating it to a non-profit organization.

?We get a lot of questions at the stores and on our Facebook page about what to do with leftover paint,? said Robert Wendoll, director of environmental affairs. ?This video is a quick reminder about how to deal responsibly with disposal of paint and wash water from cleaning brushes.

Videos are posted on YouTube and the Dunn-Edwards website.? More information can be found in any of the 108 Dunn-Edwards neighborhood paint stores.
